2019 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AWARD PROGRAM - NOW OPEN!

July 2018



This award, which provides $240,000 in funding over a three-year period, is intended to support a junior faculty member in the allergy/immunology specialty. Funding is to support research in basic and/or clinical allergy and immunology and to promote the specialty.

Award Timeline:

Letters of Intent Due: September 4, 2018
Top Finalists Notified: October 9, 2018
Complete Applications Due: November 15, 2018
Review Results Announced: January 2019

AAAAI FOUNDATION RECEIVES PLATINUM LEVEL RATING

June 2018

The AAAAI Foundation has achieved the Platinum Seal of Transparency Rating on GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on non-profit organizations. This rating puts the Foundation in the top 0.1% of charities nationally in terms of transparency.

The Platinum Seal of Transparency indicates that the Foundation shares clear and important information with the public about our goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress indicators that highlight the difference the Foundation makes in the world.

Our goal is to grant three Faculty Development Awards in 2019 with funds raised through the Grow Allergy and Immunology Now - GAIN - Campaign. These Awards support the career development of junior faculty members in the specialty of allergy, asthma and immunology through basic and clinical research.

2017 RSL CHALLENGE - REGION 3 WINS

January 2018

The AAAAI Foundation is please to announce that the winner of the 2017 RSL Challenge is Region 3: Mid-South Southeast. Thank you to all who participated in the 2017 RSL Challenge! Our original goal was to raise $50,000, but through personalized appeals from RSL Governors and Presidents, the challenge raised over $82,000 for research!

The AAAAI Foundation won a 2016 MarCom Gold Award for our 2016 Annual Report. The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding marketing and is administered by the Association of Marketing Professionals.

2016 RSL CHALLENGE - REGION 5 WINNER

January 2017

The AAAAI Foundation is please to announce that the winner of the 2016 RSL Challenge is Region 5: Mid-South (Includes states of AR, KS, LA, MO, MS, OK, TX).

Thank you to all who participated in the 2016 RSL Challenge! Our original goal was to raise $10,000, but through personalized appeals from RSL Governors and Presidents, the challenge raised over $64,000 for research! The RSL Board of Governors will review the donation tallies at the end of the year and notify the winning region/society.

The AAAAI Foundation won two 2016 MarCom Awards – a Platinum Award for our video – “Another Beautiful Morning” – and a Gold Award for our 2015 Annual Report. The MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding marketing and is administered by the Association of Marketing Professionals.

2017 FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AWARD APPLICATIONS

The Foundation is pleased to announce that 24 applications were received from 21 different institutions for our 2017 Faculty Development Awards. AAAAI Foundation Chair, William W. Busse, MD, FAAAAI, had this to say about the applicant pool:

NEW! AAAAI FOUNDATION VIDEO

Have you seen “Another Beautiful Morning” yet? The AAAAI Foundation unveiled a new video at the AAAAI Annual Meeting that persuasively tells the story of the Foundation and helps our supporters understand the urgency of giving. It shows the connection between investigators who are dedicated to improving patients’ health and families who hope for more effective treatment and eventual cures.

The video was also shared at the AAAAI Foundation Benefit and the AAAAI Business Meeting. It has been viewed at RSL meetings, the Program Directors Assembly meeting and will be seen at other events throughout the year. The video, produced by STIR Marketing with guidance from the Foundation Council, was filmed in Milwaukee and features William W. Busse, MD, FAAAAI; Mitchell Grayson, MD, FAAAAI; Pamela A. Guerrerio, MD, PhD; Hal M. Hoffman, MD, FAAAAI; and Jordan Orange, MD, PhD, FAAAAI.

The AAAAI Foundation received a record 29 applications for its Faculty Development Award this year and the quality of the science presented was outstanding. The Foundation is anticipating another excellent group of applications for next year.  With your support of our Grow Allergy and Immunology Now (GAIN) Campaign in 2016, we hope to announce a third award in 2017.

Every time you donate to the GAIN Campaign this year–and we hope it’s several times–use the drop down menu on our donation form to let us know about your membership in a Regional, State or Local (RSL) Allergy Society. At the end of 2016, the RSL region who has donated the most to the GAIN Campaign will win free CME certification for one of their courses. That’s a $2,500 value.
